Honeywell Telehealth alerts Bon Secours staff, helps St. Petersburg patients feel more secure

BROOKFIELD, Wisconsin., March 22, 2007 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced that Bon Secours Health System, a multi-state healthcare provider known for innovative, integrated care solutions, will rely on Honeywell telehealth system for its home healthcare services in the St. Petersburg, Fla., area. This will be the second Bon Secours site that uses Genesis Monitoring for home health care.  Genesis is manufactured by Honeywell’s Wisconsin-based HomMed business.

The compact Genesis telemonitor supports home care management seven days a week, allowing pre-emptive care to be delivered by alerting clinical staff to the smallest changes in patient parameters.  By providing constant, in-home surveillance to those with health issues, the Honeywell telehealth system can help avoid unnecessary and disruptive emergency room visits and hospitalizations.

Pam Sylves, Bon Secours Administrator for St. Petersburg, says the Genesis solution will help them to maintain personalized, compassionate care in each community that they serve. “We can increase our clinical efficiency,” she says. “Our patients will feel more secure knowing a local healthcare professional is monitoring their health and can intervene if their medical condition changes.” She adds that the system will also be implemented in their assisted living facility.

HomMed President Mike Benjamin adds that HomMed’s new model of care combines the clinical excellence of home healthcare agencies and clinicians with state of the art technology. “Telemonitoring addresses the increased demand for medical services by applying proven technology in different ways.”
